Like many young musicians, 28 Days Later began by covering a wide variety of songs from many of their favorite bands - including Black Crows, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters, Incubus, Blues Traveler, Sublime, Marshall Tucker Band, Audioslave, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, Cold Play, Chris Stapleton, and many others. After being together for less than three months, the band performed its first live show on April 1, 2022. It consisted of 35 songs played over three hours in front of a packed house of about 200 people at a venue on Des Moines' south side. Most impressive, though, is that the band played 12 original songs as part of the set!
In July of 2022, the band released 6 tracks on their first EP, "Dog Days", available on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Amazon Music and others. Over the summer, the original song, "Right on Red", was added to the rotation to air on Des Moines' KFMG radio. "Right on Red" has been a favorite at every live show.
Following “Dog Days”, the band continued writing and performing new songs, several of which are now released as part of their self-titled LP, “28 Days Later” on November 1, 2023. Bryan Vanderpool and Blake Van Houten from Golden Bear Records produced the album and provided expert guidance and input. Special thanks to Chris Hesse (of Hoobastank) and The Lighthouse Recording studio for mastering all of the tracks!
Every track on the album has very vocal fans!
College radio stations across Iowa have taken notice. Many are playing various tracks from "28 Days Later" as of the fall of 2023.
September 2024 saw the release of the single "Who We Really Are", available on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Amazon Music and others.
The band worked with a crew in Chicago to film and produce their first music video for "Who We Really Are". The video shows another side of the band's artistic vision, while showcasing them as the group of friends they are. Simultaneously professional and authentic, the video helps you learn about 28 Days Later - who they really are.
The band continues to hone their craft, constantly woking on new music and adding to the experience of their live shows. Having played gigs at notable venues across the Des Moines metro, in Omaha, and in Iowa City, 28 Days Later is planning a summer tour in 2025. 2025 will also see the band return to the studio to record their next album, to be released in the next few months.
